Hi PingSkills,

I have been playing table tennis for two years, with a year and a half of competitive experience. Until now, I have been using the Timo Boll CF 2000 premade racket by Butterfly, but the rubber has worn out.

I am considering upgrading to the PingSkills Touch. Would you recommend this, and if so, should I go with the Mark V or Rakza 7 rubber? Alternatively, should I transition to a custom racket? If a custom racket is the better option, could you suggest a good-quality yet budget-friendly blade and rubber combination?

Thank you for your guidance.

Hi,

It’s great to hear about your progress and dedication in table tennis over the past two years! Transitioning from a premade racket like the Timo Boll CF 2000 to a more advanced setup is a wise decision at this stage in your playing career, especially given your competitive experience. Regarding the PingSkills Touch, it is indeed a solid choice. Both options you mentioned, the Mark V and Rakza 7 rubbers, offer good possibilities. Mark V is renowned for its balance and control, making it an excellent option for players looking to refine their technique without sacrificing the ability to generate spin and speed. On the other hand, Yasaka Rakza 7 is more modern and tends to be faster with a higher spin potential, which can be beneficial if your style tends to be more aggressive or if you're looking to add more dynamism to your game.
